1st Grade

Hello, I’m Ms. Dispense!

I have been teaching first grade for 21.5 years, and I truly love my job and our wonderful SME community! My passion is helping children become lifelong learners, gain confidence, and develop teamwork skills.

In 2020, I had the honor of receiving an Apple Award and representing Stone Mountain as the Elementary Educator of the Year for DCSD.

I’m a Colorado native and a graduate of Green Mountain High School in Lakewood. I attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, on a soccer scholarship and later earned my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL endorsement from the University of Colorado at Denver. I also hold my principal’s license from the University of Phoenix.

I have two sons—Dylan (11th grade) and Logan (9th grade)—and a sweet new toy schnauzer named Liliana. You can usually find us on a soccer or baseball field somewhere around town. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading, riding my Peloton, skiing, and cheering for all the Denver sports teams.

Hi there! I'm Kate Brown, and I'm so grateful to have taught first grade at Stone Mountain for the last seven years. I've been with my wonderful and supportive husband, Josh, since our junior year in high school at ThunderRidge. We live in Sterling Ranch with our two dogs, a Mini Bernedoodle named Scout and a Cockapoo named Ruby. When I'm not in the classroom, I love spending time with family and friends, playing pickleball, and shopping at Target!
