2nd Grade

My name is Zoe Ackerman, and I am so excited for another year in second grade! This is my fourth year of teaching, where I have taught both second and third grade. I am a native of Colorado, growing up in Parker and being a product of Douglas County Schools! I attended Utah State University for my undergrad and Western Governors University for my master's. I got married this past summer to my high school sweetheart, Nolan, and I am also the JV head coach of the Arapahoe High School dance team. I spend most of my free time coaching my girls! My favorite part about being a teacher is providing a safe space for my students and building our classroom community,  so I am looking forward to continuing that this year!

Hello! My name is Mrs. Lassen, and I am so excited to be teaching second grade at Stone Mountain Elementary! I am a Colorado native who grew up in Arvada and have spent a total of nine years in Douglas County schools. I have seven years of classroom teaching experience and two years as a substitute teacher. After beginning my career in first and second grade, I took time away from teaching to raise my three children before returning to the district five years ago. I am thrilled to be back in second grade and especially excited to be at my neighborhood school, where I also spent time as a substitute teacher. My husband and I have been married for 26 years, and our three children are now 21, 19, and 16. We love spending time together, traveling, and staying active. I believe strong relationships and a positive classroom community are the foundation for learning, and I love creating a classroom where students feel valued, have fun, and grow in confidence as they learn each day!

Hello everyone! My name is Alexa Griffiths/Baker (new married name—yay!). I’m truly honored and excited to teach second grade at SME this year. I’ve been in education for the past five years, teaching special education and fourth grade. I earned my degree from the University of North Texas in Early Childhood through Sixth Grade education. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, drawing, going to the movies, and spending time outdoors. In October 2025, I married my wonderful husband, Anson, and officially became a Baker. We recently moved to Colorado for an exciting new adventure, and we can’t wait to call this beautiful state home. One of my favorite parts of teaching is creating a classroom where students feel safe, confident, and supported. Where they can share ideas, ask questions, and help one another as they learn. I’m looking forward to a wonderful school year!
