Hello SME! My name is Whitney Humphrey. I am excited to be starting my 12th year of teaching. All of them have been as an SME Cub! I taught 2nd grade for 4 years and this will be my 8th year in 3rd grade. My husband Brandon and I have been married for 6 years and welcomed our little boy, Grey at the start of 2024! We have 1 dog (Birdie) and a cat (Gunner). We love concerts, sporting events, camping, spending time with friends and family, and just hanging out at home on our back patio. I'm so excited to be starting my 12th year as an SME Cub! SME is my home and I couldn't be more proud to be a Cub!

My name is Alyssa Okerstrom. I grew up in the Chicago area and moved here 13 years ago with my husband Adam, and our two kids, Mark (17) and Annalise (15). We also have a dog named Rizzo. I taught fourth grade in the Chicago suburbs for eight years before taking some time off to be home with my kids. I cherished my time with them, but the classroom was calling me back. Nine years ago, I started back at school as a substitute teacher for Douglas County. I fell in love with SME and started working here full time as an educational assistant. I taught fourth grade for two years and this will be my 6th year in 3rd grade. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Hello SME! My name is Kelly Spond, and this is my 17th year at Stone Mountain Elementary and my 20th year teaching. I was a 6th grade teacher for 13 years and I taught two years in 5th grade. I taught both of these grades right here at SME. This is my third year of teaching 3rd grade, and I love teaching 3rd graders! My number one goal is to help my students reach their full potential in a safe and caring environment. Plus, we have a lot of fun along the way! My husband Tom and I have been married for 34 years and we have triplet boys who are 29 years old. They will turn 30 in December. We are also a Grammy and Grampy to two beautiful granddaughters, Saylor Jane and Emery Jo, and we have a 13 year old Beagle dog named Indy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue teaching this year and look forward to all the growth ahead.
