JEN BEARMAN	[email protected]	Hi! My name is Jen Bearman and I'm so excited to teach second grade! This will be my 8th year at SME, and my 17th year in education. I'm a CO native, but went to school in Southern CA. My husband and I have been married for 25 years, and we have two daughters. Ella, who just graduated from RCHS, and Kaitlyn will be a Senior at GCU! We enjoy traveling and spending time with our extended family. Classroom community is very important to me. I look forward to having fun with my students, while we learn and grow each day!
KATE MANION	[email protected]	I am happy to be teaching 2nd grade literacy in this, my 17th year in education. My daughters, (23) (20), husband and I appreciate the beauty and activities Colorado has to offer but I'll always be a Chicago girl at heart. Teaching allows me the opportunity to show students the power of reading and writing while still keeping things fun and sometimes silly in the classroom!
KARLIN HUGHES	[email protected]	My name is Karlin Hughes and I'm so excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year. I have been married to my husband Bill for 19 years and we have a daughter Ireland who is in 6th Grade at Stone Mountain. I love to go to sporting events, movies, ride my Peloton, read and hike. I have my Bachelor's Degree in International Business Management and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Regis University. I love being a teacher and pride myself on creating a fun environment for students where there is a balance of hard work and great fun.

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records at this link ( Douglas County School District Transcripts and Records Requests ).
